Greg Surratt is the founding pastor of Seacoast Church. I grew in the faith at Seacoast and grew up in the ministry as well. Over a decade of being around Greg I have picked up words of wisdom that I like to call “leadership nuggets of gold for lead pastors”.
Here are a few:
1. Your present enemies could be future allies. Don’t lock relationship doors.
2. Guard you heart in ministry. It will determine your leadership.
3. Sometimes it will feel like you are preaching to a parade.
4. “You might be right” – the art of disagreeing without drama.
5. Go with the people that will Go. People come and go… and come back again and go again.
6. It’s Ok to be discouraged at times. “You can sit on the pity potty as long as you don’t sit long enough to get a ring around your hinny.”
7. If you feel you need to plant a church, ask yourself “is there any else I could do.” Planting a church might ‘kill’ you.
8. Don’t get tired and give up for in time you will reap a harvest.
I will be expounding on them in a few days. What are your thoughts on these? Can you relate to some of these?
