I’m writing to share a God story and share how you helped play a part in it.

While, I was on vacation I got a facebook message from Gao Yang. She was writing to tell me that she and her fiance Mong had been attending Mosaic for approximately a year and really felt that God was working in their lives. She then went on to explain that during a recent trip out to Lake Hickory with friends, Mong had jumped overboard for a swim and drowned.

Why is this a God story? It’s a God story because Mong was at Mosaic the Sunday before this fatal accident and turned in his worship guide indicating he had committed his life to Christ!!

As heartbreaking as this situation is, I’m reminded of Romans 8:18, where it says “that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” We have the hope that those who have died in Christ will be reunited in heaven!

This real life story is a huge reminder of why we do what we do! This is why every Sunday matters, why every volunteer makes a difference, and why we will always need your help creating safe, relevant, God-filled environments, in which people can come to Christ.

So, if you help people like Mong park their cars, care for their kids, greet or usher, serve coffee, or set up and tear down, week after week…thank you.

Thank you for being a part of the Mosaic Volunteer Staff – every week you guys are impacting lives for eternity!

p.s. Please pray for the family and our staff as we walk with them through this time of grief. Here is the link to the story in the paper
